What's in a name?
The name "Heman 'always provides much food for speculation. Often a link is established with in the 80 popular cartoon series, it is thought that the name is just a fabrication, or the name is conveniently changed to 'Herman'.The name has its origins in the Bible. Heman was as a musician in the service of King David. Except as a singer, he was also known as pelvic player and trumpet. Moreover, he was a conductor. The 288 musicians presenting company in which his children 14 sons and 3 daughters played music, performed under his direction at the royal court. Heman led by Sietse Hamersma and Anne van der Berg
In 1998 Sietse Hamersma took over the baton. In the 13 years that Sietse Heman conducted his many highlights were reviewed. Heman was the NBK almost always be found in the highest echelons of the 1st Division, and won them in 1999, 2003, 2004 and 2007. There were also victories at the Flemish Open championships and at Euro Brass. There was much to do next battleground: 2 concert tours to Zbaszynek (Polish sister city of the municipality Bedum), the Spring Concert with each year a surprising guest artist, and the recording of the album 'Purple Brass' on the occasion of the 90th anniversary jubilee to name but a few. Because of its time-consuming job as owner of cafe zalencentrum 'Under the Linden in Vries, Sietse saw in 2011 forced his baton to hang the willows.
In August 2011 came Heman led by Anne van der Berg, sounding results under whose leadership put down: NBK victories in 2011 and 2012, a beautiful 2nd place in the B division at the European Brass Band Championships and the first place in the B division of Euro Brass 2012 and 2013.
A new direction: Heman led by Gerk Huisma
As of 2014, the management in the hands of Gerk Huisma. By attracting these young Friesian conductor Heman hopes to have laid the foundation for a long-term successful cooperation.
